Marc’s Events

Since February 2011 Marc has been speaking at various events and conferences. These include TeachMeets, Local Authority CPD courses, Geographical Association Conferences and the BETT Show. Marc is also the manager of the Apple Regional Training Centre, Nottingham, which offers free courses throughout the year to schools in region. Come to this free workshop at the Apple Regional Training Centre in Nottingham to learn how to use some simple apps in the classroom. This course is suitable for teaching assistants, classroom teachers and ICT Leaders who are new to using iPad devices in lessons.

Hear from a range of teachers at the school who have used simple apps to enhance learning in their classrooms. This workshop will cover EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Friends of the Regional Training Centre meeting. Wednesday 9th November. £FREE

4.00pm – 5.30pm at Burton Joyce Primary School

Formerly ‘The iPad Classroom‘, this is currently an invitation only group for teachers who have worked on leadership projects with the RTC. Please look out for an e-mail from Marc to invite you to this event. During the evening we will conclude our vision tool and plan for its use in our own schools. We will share the latest apps used in our own lessons and evaluate new resources from Apple Distinguished Educators.


onebillion: An Early Maths Intervention TBC £FREE

4.00pm – 5.30pm at Burton Joyce Primary School

Join Marc Faulder, early years teacher, and The University of Nottingham as we share the findings from the UK’s first large scale evaluation of the onebillion apps in closing the gap in early maths.

Schools who participated in this research are welcome to this special event where their successes will be celebrated. There will be an opportunity to hear from some of the teachers involved in the study and chance to spend time using the intervention apps too.

This practical workshop was requested by friends of the Regional Training Centre. In this time you will see examples of student work and learn how to use iMovie trailers in creative writing lessons. See how easy it is for children to create quality short films and the impact this has on writing across genres.

Marc planned and delivered a bespoke training course introducing the staff here to iPad and promoting a vision to embed their existing 32 iPads in to their curriculum.

Heymann Primary School, Early Years and Key Stage 1 Staff Meeting, 2nd February 2015

“Coding in Early Years”

Marc will be planning and delivering a staff meeting for early years and key stage 1 staff (teachers and teaching assistants) surrounding early coding resources and progression of skills. Marc will share strategies such as unplugged computing, using programmable toys and how to exceed the early learning goals in technology. This will support the school in their ‘sic-tech’ project for Spring Term 2.

Apple Regional Training Centre Winter Conference, Birmingham Belfry – December 1st – 2nd.

Marc delivered workshops on animation, in a fieldtrip context at Kingsbury Water Park. This was followed up with support back at Birmingham Belfry.

Kings Independent School, Rochester – November 28th

“Authentic Authors”

Marc delivered a bespoke INSET day for the pre-prep school (Foundation through to Year 3). The full day event included 3 staff workshops, introducing all to iOS leading to content creation using a range of apps appropriate for age. This was followed by a teacher workshop covering app-smashing, workflow and publishing authentic content to a real audience. After school Marc spent time with individual teachers, assassinating with planning, progression of skills and curriculum links.

I worked with European Electronique on stand D80 at BETT 2012, demonstrating the use of the X Box Kinect and how it can be encorporated into classrooms to support project based learning.

Short presentation on the power of Class Blogs to engage harder to reach parents, share learning and gather evidence by tagging blog posts.

Presentation discussing the importance of outdoor learning and ‘place attachment’ for all children, highlighting how this can influence child lead learning and introduce issues such as sustainability and recycling.
